Job: 'Fix xray trough gameplay'
My Goal: Using hacked-clients/Xray should not give you a benefit. At the same time looking for ores should still be as fun as in vanilla MC and possibly things like strip-mining still be working. Important: The solution needs to be easy to maintain & low on server resources. I know "orebfuscator" exists; I built that myself in an optimized version. That is not an option.
Current proposal:
- Ores are always hidden everywhere, except possibly on owned plots (where you have no advantage anymore)
- Ores can be found by new gameplay features. Like a server-side xray tool.
- This ore-finder can be upgraded & improved. Should be fun while using and not overpowered
- Example: A 'surrounding-analyzer-tool' that allows to scan an area around the player (one asteroid). The tool will highlight points of interest: For example by showing outlines around/near ore-blocks.
Still needed:
- Real testing of different implementations.
- Are multi-colored (invisible slimes) outlines good enough?
- Is there something else we could add? Temporarely invisible blocks? Some other indicators?
- What could the upgrading of the skill be like?
- Can we make the process somehow more interactive?
- Maybe only in combination with a spyglass / directional?
- Maybe TNT needed for seismic-analysis? Or something similar? Fireworks?
- Goal is always be creative. Try things. You know from my stream I try out 20 things to find one that works.
